Utah Veterinary Emergency Center is a locally owned, doctor‑led  veterinary hospital providing urgent care, general wellness, and general  surgery for dogs and cats in Herriman, Utah. We are located at 5089  West 11800 South, Suite 102, Herriman, Utah, USA.

Utah Veterinary Emergency Center is a locally owned,  doctor‑led veterinary practice, not part of a national corporate chain.  This allows us to focus entirely on medical excellence and personalized  care for every pet and family.

Our hospital is open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm for urgent care,  wellness visits, and general surgery by appointment or walk‑in. For  emergencies that occur outside business hours, pet owners are instructed  to call for guidance and referral to the nearest 24‑hour emergency  facility.

We happily accept walk‑ins for urgent care and same‑day needs, with a  goal of zero wait times whenever possible. You can also call or message  us to schedule a wellness exam, surgery consult, or follow‑up  appointment.

Our primary focus is on companion animals, including dogs and cats, for  urgent care, general wellness, and general surgery. If you have an  exotic pet or species‑specific concern, call our team so we can triage  and direct you to the best local resource when needed.

We serve pet owners in Herriman and surrounding communities in the  southwest Salt Lake Valley, including South Jordan, Riverton, Bluffdale,  and Daybreak. Many clients choose us as their go‑to urgent care and  general practice when they need high‑quality care close to home.

Emergency vet care is for life‑threatening conditions such as severe  trauma, breathing difficulty, uncontrolled bleeding, or collapse that  require immediate, intensive treatment at a 24‑hour facility. Urgent vet  care addresses serious but non‑life‑threatening issues like persistent  vomiting, diarrhea, minor wounds, painful limping, or sudden illness  that cannot wait for a routine appointment.

Utah Veterinary Emergency Center is a 9:00 am to 9:00 pm hospital, not a  24‑hour overnight facility. For true after‑hours emergencies, we direct  clients by phone to nearby 24/7 emergency hospitals in the greater Salt  Lake City area.

Common signs your pet may need urgent veterinary care include repeated  vomiting or diarrhea, not eating, sudden limping or pain, difficulty  urinating, eye injuries, or ingestion of a possible toxin. If you are  unsure whether it is an emergency or urgent situation, call our hospital  so our team can help you decide the safest next step

If your pet experiences a serious emergency outside our business hours,  call our main number for instructions on the closest 24‑hour emergency  animal hospital. In life‑threatening situations such as severe breathing  difficulty, collapse, or major trauma, transport your pet immediately  to the nearest 24/7 emergency vet.

During our open hours, we can evaluate and stabilize many trauma cases,  including wounds, fractures, and pain management, and then coordinate  transfer if round‑the‑clock intensive care is required. For after‑hours  or extremely critical trauma cases, we may recommend going straight to a  24‑hour emergency hospital.

Yes, during our business hours we can assess and treat many toxin  exposures, including induction of vomiting when appropriate,  decontamination, and supportive care. If the toxin is particularly  dangerous or the patient is unstable, we may coordinate with a 24‑hour  emergency hospital or poison control for advanced treatment  recommendations.

We provide a full range of urgent care services, general wellness care,  and general soft‑tissue surgery for dogs and cats. These services are  supported by in‑clinic diagnostics, treatments, and a team committed to  advanced medicine and compassionate communication.

Yes, in addition to urgent visits we offer general wellness care,  including physical exams, vaccines, parasite prevention, and routine  screening tests to keep pets healthy. Many families use us as both their  urgent care and general veterinary provider for continuity of care.

We perform a variety of general surgeries, such as spay and neuter  procedures, mass removals, wound repair, and other soft‑tissue  operations appropriate for a general practice hospital. More complex or  specialty surgeries may be referred to a board‑certified surgeon or a  24‑hour specialty hospital in the Salt Lake area.

Our hospital is equipped for in‑house urgent care diagnostics,  including digital radiography, basic bloodwork, and other tests to  quickly evaluate sick or injured pets. Fast diagnostics allow our  doctors to create a targeted treatment plan and avoid unnecessary delays

Utah Veterinary Emergency Center can discuss quality‑of‑life concerns,  palliative options, and humane euthanasia in‑clinic when appropriate.  For families who prefer at‑home euthanasia, we partner with our sister  company, Heaven Sent Pet, which provides in‑home euthanasia services  throughout the greater Salt Lake Valley.

We operate with dedicated urgent care capacity and accept walk‑ins to  allow rapid triage and treatment, aiming for zero or minimal wait times  whenever possible. Critical patients are seen immediately, while stable  pets are seen in order of medical priority and arrival time.

After your visit, we can share exam findings, test results, and  treatment summaries with your primary care veterinarian so they can  continue any needed follow‑up care. Our goal is to act as an extension  of your family vet for urgent and after‑hours needs, not a replacement  for their ongoing relationship with your pet.

Yes, our doctors are available to provide urgent second opinions on  concerns such as unresolved vomiting, chronic pain, or new symptoms that  arise between regular vet appointments. We will review your pet’s  history, perform a thorough exam, and recommend appropriate diagnostics  or treatment options.

We accept common forms of payment such as major credit and debit cards  and other standard veterinary payment methods, and we are happy to  provide detailed invoices for insurance reimbursement. For large  procedures or unexpected emergencies, we can discuss available  third‑party financing options commonly used in emergency and specialty  veterinary hospitals.

Pet insurance plans are typically reimbursement‑based, so you pay your  invoice at the time of service and then submit a claim to your insurance  provider. Our team can supply itemized receipts and medical records to  support your claim and help maximize your eligible reimbursement

Save our clinic phone number and address in your phone, keep a  pet‑specific first‑aid kit at home, and know the location of the nearest  24‑hour emergency vet in case of overnight crises. It is also wise to  review your pet insurance coverage or financial plan in advance so you  can authorize needed care quickly during an emergency.
