Overview
Cold and sinus medications containing pseudoephedrine are highly toxic to dogs and cats. These stimulant-like decongestants can cause dangerous elevations in heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature, along with severe neurologic stimulation. Even a small number of tablets can be critical in small pets. Combination cold medicines may contain multiple toxic ingredients, so packaging is essential for treatment decisions.

Hyperactivity, high heart rate, tremors, seizures
Typical onset
30 minutes - 3 hours
What to do
Emergency care immediately; bring product packaging.
