Nurse Manager

Utah Veterinary Emergency Center (UVEC) is a newly established, independently owned veterinary urgent care hospital in Herriman, Utah. We are building something different—a practice committed to practicing the gold standard of medicine while putting team well-being and genuine community impact at the center of everything we do. We’re looking for a dedicated, skilled Nurse Manager to join our founding team and help set the standard from day one.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Nurse Manager at UVEC, you are not an afterthought—you are the backbone of the clinical team. You’ll lead training and development, drive departmental operations, and work side by side with our doctors and directors as a true partner in a well-equipped, modern facility. You’ll be trusted, developed, and challenged every single shift. This is a place where your leadership matters, your growth is invested in, and your contribution is felt.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • $70,000–$75,000/year salary depending on experience and licensure
  • 10-hour shifts: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Maximum of 16 shifts per month—we believe in sustainable schedules

BENEFITS & PERKS

  • 50 hours of PTO / 30 hours sick pay annually—immediately vested with no accrual period
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Continuing education (CE) allowance
  • Well-stocked kitchen—quality coffee, snacks, and meals on long shift days because you shouldn’t have to think about food when you’re focused on patients
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • No corporate red tape—independent ownership means decisions are made by clinicians, not a boardroom

WHO THRIVES HERE

We’ll be straightforward: UVEC is not for everyone. We are building a hospital where every member of the team does the best work of their career, and that requires people who show up with intention. We expect hard work, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine dedication to the craft. If you want a place to coast, this isn’t it. If you want a place where your effort is matched by the team around you, where you’re supported to grow into the leader you know you can be, and where the work actually means something—this is the place. One more thing: we have a zero-tolerance policy for toxic behavior. Full stop. We don’t care how experienced you are—if you belittle colleagues, mistreat teammates, or bring ego into the building, this is not the place for you. UVEC is a team of professionals who treat each other with respect, lift each other up, and hold each other accountable. That’s non-negotiable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team leadership and development: assist with onboarding and interviews for new hires
  • Oversee training for new hires and employees
  • Assist in performance reviews with the hospital director
  • Maintain safety standards for employees and patients
  • Manage daily departmental operations—ensure processes are being followed
  • Drive process improvements to optimize hospital flow and efficiency alongside the medical director and hospital director
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical records and process logs
  • Act as liaison between veterinarians and support staff as needed
  • Address and resolve client escalations
  • Address and resolve employee escalations alongside the hospital director
  • Assist with cases as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred—unlicensed technicians with strong hands-on experience will be considered
  • Prior veterinary clinical experience required; urgent care or specialty experience a plus
  • Strong diagnostic and technical skills with a willingness to develop and teach team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—de-escalation skills preferred
  • A genuine commitment to compassionate, evidence-based veterinary medicine
  • A strong work ethic and the drive to continuously improve—you hold yourself to a high standard

WHY UVEC?

UVEC is not a corporate consolidation play. We are an independently owned practice founded by veterinary professionals who believe the industry can do better—better for doctors, better for technicians, better for staff, and better for pets and their families. Herriman and the surrounding southwest Salt Lake Valley communities are growing rapidly, and UVEC is here to serve them with a hospital built around modern medicine, sustainable work-life balance, and a culture where great clinicians do great work. If you’re ready to raise the bar and be part of something built to last—we’d love to hear from you.
